July: Restaurants

I thought I would write a little post about some of the places I have eaten this month. As much as I look cooking great food I love going out to eat also. I thought I would start providing a summary at the end of each month of where I ate, what I had and my thoughts! Some of these might be old faves and some will most definitely be new places.

I hope you enjoy my recommendations.

The Real Greek

Units 1&2 Riverside House, 2A Southwark Bridge Road, London SE1 9HA

This is one of my absolute fave places. My boyfriend and I love Greek food and this is great place to go as it’s not too expensive and there is loads to choose from. We went to the one at Bankside which meant we were lucky enough to have a view of the river. If going on a Friday night definitely book as the queue outside was so long.

We ate the following: (p.s. we did eat a lot because a) we liked the sound of  everything on the menu and b) our eyes are more often than not bigger than our bellies!)

  • Houmous
  • Tzatziki
  • Greek Flatbread
  • Halloumi Fries
  • Lamb Cutlets
  • Grilled Aubergine with Garlic Tomato Sauce
  • Loukaniko – Beek and Pork Sausage
  • Spinach Tiropitakia
  • Prawn Saganaki

I cannot recommend the lamb cutlets and the halloumi fries enough!! But everything was really really good. As its sharing foods you tend to spend more than you might if you were having just one main dish each, but I’d say its definitely worth it. What is great is the amount of vegetarian and vegan dishes they do also!

65A Brushfield Street, London, E1 6AA

This is one of my absolute favourite places in Spitalfields and it is such a classy place in the middle of one of the coolest areas in London! Look at those pics above – how sweet is it! Both times I have been I have gone on the weekend, so have enjoyed their ‘brunch’ menu.

You absolutely cannot go here without trying the chorizo bites.

Other than that I had:

  • Iced coffee
  • Good Juji juice – orange, carrot, red chilli, turmeric (Aaaamazing!!)
  • Cumberland sausage, smoked potatoes, heritage tomato jam, black pudding crumb, mushrooms & fried eggs.

But it would be wrong of me to not mention the food I had there last time as that was AS good.

  • Good Morrow juice – pink grapefruit, pineapple, pear
  • Potato rosti with Spinach, poached eggs, truffled cheddar cream

The staff are really friendly and helpful and everything on the menu is delicious – but do expect to pay London brunch prices!

Straight and Narrow

45 Narrow Street, Limehouse, London, E14 8DN

I’ve just moved to Limehouse in London and this is right around the corner. After stalking their instagram we decided to check the place out for ourselves. WELL what a find. Honestly I would eat brunch here every day if I could. I went for the Limehouse vegetarian breakfast (as I’m not a massive fan of full English) and honestly I think it was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. See AMAZING pic below:

My friend had French toast and she said that was great also! What is so lovely is the staff are SO friendly and the prices are SO reasonable you wouldn’t think you were in London.

Burger and Lobster

Hertsmere Road, London, E14 4AY

This place honestly never gets old – it is totally fabulous every time. As the name will tell you, you can get two things on the menu (albeit both with variations) 1. Burger 2. Lobster.

My favourite is above – the Lobster Roll. To. die. for. – And lets be real here, its the garlic butter that totally makes it!

Hopefully you enjoy this and give them a try!

Love, A, x
