January: Restaurants

You guys know I love a monthly round up of all the fun places I ate in over the last 31 days! I don’t just love cooking food, I love to enjoy it also so hopefully being able to tell you some of the fun places to try in and around London, it might inspire you to try something new!

How is it already the end of January!? I have no idea where this month has gone! This January has definitely felt 10 times better than last year. I actually ‘started’ this blog a year ago as I felt super lost at work and unsure what I wanted from life. Started with good intentions… but I didn’t actually find my flow until June! Anyway, here I am January 31st much happier and still loving posting fun, easy recipes for you to (hopefully) try out, as well as inspiring you to splurge occasionally and opt to go for a meal out!

Anyway lets get started!

The Real Greek

Various Locations (Bankside on the River is such a great view though!)

Full disclosure – I eat here A. LOT. So this has 100% featured before however it’s so good I had to mention it again because every meal here is pure heaven. We also ate practically everything off the menu fyi…

  • Tzatziki
  • Houmus
  • Flatbreads
  • Chicken Monastiraki
  • Pork Belly
  • Grilled Aubergine
  • Lamb Cutlets
  • Lamb Meatballs
  • Loukaniko – beef and pork sausage
  • Prawn Sakanaki
  • Halloumi Fries

Told you it was a lot… but you know what … worth it!! So so yummy. And the experience there is really great, the atmosphere is fun with live greek music and the staff are v friendly and helpful!

Various Locations

With the boyfriends family in town we tried to take them to as many cuisines as possible ha ha. Greek Saturday night and now Thai for Sunday lunch!

Like The Real Greek, every meal at Busuba is a dream… and really great value!

I was feeling a little fancy that day so went for the Sen Chan Pad Thai, which is spicier version of their pad Thai but with white crabmeat and fresh green mango! It was really tasty and quite refreshing – a really great lunchtime choice as it didn’t feel too heavy!

Others selected the Chicken Wings with a side of rice, Sweet & Sour Chicken and Khao Red Pork.

All delicious.

Santo Remedio – Cocina Mexicana

152 Tooley St, London SE1 2TU

So this dream place is a teeny little Mexican place on the corner of Shand Street and Tooley Street near London Bridge.

It was crazy good and the staff were super friendly and helpful!

It’s all kinda sharing food – which I love because you get to try a bit of everything!

  • Fresh Guacamole with Tortilla Chips
  • Soft Shell Crab Tacos
  • Pork Belly Tacos
  • Beef Barbacoa Tacos
  • Meatballs el Chipotle
  • Chicken Enchiladas
  • Lamb Cutlets
  • Cactus Slaw on the side

YUMMMMM – I will be there again very soon. Every bite was heaven. Also the atmosphere was great they just had amazing vibes!

Various Locations

I got my boyfriend a London Walks book for Christmas to give us an excuse to see more of London which we are so bad at doing even though we live here! The weekends plan was to grab some brunch and then do our walk however when we got to the original brunch plan it was a 45 minute wait !! In winter!! No thank you! So we decided to do the walk first. It was great but my god it was a cold day and then rain came and wow just super stressful in the end ha ha but what we needed more than anything was a lovely warm place to eat. We went back to our first place of choice and found out it was A ONE HOUR WAIT IN THE COLD…. what!! We went on our merry way and in doing so walked past Lantana! I have been to one before by Old Street but had no idea one existed near London Bridge.

We went in and although it was a 15 minute wait that staff were super friendly and we sat down in the warm whilst we waited. In reality it was no more than a 10 minute wait which was great!

The food is classic brunch food but super super good. I quite liked that a lot of their meals were veggie/vegan with the option to ADD meat/eggs if you wanted to.

I went for the wild mushrooms, on sourdough with a poached egg, sun blush tomato, white bean hummus and crispy shallot crumb and because i’m crazy I added some chorizo. Honestly So Freaking Good. I had it alongside a Sunshine Coast Juice (carrot, orange, apple, ginger).  YUM.

The boyfriend had The Big Bubble: Bubble ‘n’ squeak with cumberland sausage, poached egg, black pudding, muhammara and sautéed spinach with the Reboot (beetroot, carrot, apple, ginger) and he bloody loved it!

(Last time I went I had the Corn Fritters and they are pure heaven).

I really recommend this for a weekend brunch place, its yummy, good value and the staff are really great. Also they do offer bottomless prosecco for £30 which is worth baring in mind ;).

Let me know if you’re inspired to give these places a try!

Love,  A x
