June & July: Restaurants

Here we are again, another month in can you believe it!?  Seems like summer is almost ending and we only enjoyed a 2 week summer heatwave! Let’s hope we see a little bit more sun before September!

As always, a little round up of the best restaurants I ate in during June and July as I’m running behind!

Bone Daddies

Various Locations

Bone Daddies is famous for its ramen and on the hottest day of the year, we were lucky to find a table outside! We thought Ramen could be a good shout, but when it came to it we all chose other options – 37 degree weather is the only thing stopping me from a great ramen, but I tell you what I will be back for a taste of the ramen.

I went for the crispy pork poke bowl and it was bloody delicious – coming with guacamole, kimchi, corn and crispy noodles I was truly sad when it was over! I will 100% be back to try more of the menu.

The Anchor Inn

Seatown, Bridport DT6 6JU

I went here many times as we used to holiday here when I was younger, this restaurant is amazing and it’s only getting better! We HAD to go back there when my mum and I spent a few days in Seatown this June.

I had the special – a whole seabream with fries and delicious greens, my mum had Scallops with pancetta and blue cheese and both were HEAVENLY.

It’s a long way to travel, but worth every mile.

4 Duchess Walk, London, SE1 2SD

Gunpowder, has been described by my father as ‘the best Indian he has ever had’ and to be fair it was bloody good! It’s not your typical Indian Takeaway, but what it is is an incredible ‘modern interpretation’ of Indian food. It is served in a sharing style which means you can try a bit of everything ;).

We ordered:

  • bhuna aubergine and crispy kale salad w/ goat cheese (v)
  • egg curry masala
  • spicy venison and vermicelli doughnut w/ fennel & chilli chutney
  • maa’s kashmiri lamb chops (min order 2pcs)
  • nagaland house crispy pork ribs w/tamarind kachumber
  • organic baby chicken chargrilled in tandoori spices (half)
  • steamed rice w/ gunpowder spice

And holy smokes we were full to the brim afterwards! The lamb chops were pure heaven and my special favourite was the aubergine and crispy kale salad – to. die. for. And you can sure as hell guarantee I’m going to be recreating that baby!

I FULLY recommend this place! £££. but worth it!

No pictures this time – we dove in too quickly!

71 Blandford Street, Marylebone, London, W1U 8AB

This place is SO special and I recommend anyone in London goes here even just once. The concept is, like a carousel, the chef changes week to week  so anytime you go there your food could be an entirely different concept, cuisine, flavour. Described by the creators, cousins Ollie, Will, Ed & Anna as;

Big name chefs from all over the world, wild life drawing, terrarium building, pasta making, live acoustic sessions, paper flower workshops, you name it… No two days here are ever the same.

On their website, you can see past, previous and future chefs along with their bio and a sample menu, so you can pick the kind of cuisine you’ll be in to.

The setting was incredible, an intimate dining experience with gorgeous dimmed lighting and amazing staff.

We had the wonderful Kevin O’Connor, from California who cooked us the most delicious meal. He came out and introduced every dish which made it really special. What was great was you pay for the food on booking, so when you get there you just enjoy the meal and purchase a few drinks!

I FULLY recommend.

The Masonic Arms

10 Ann St, Gatehouse of Fleet, Castle Douglas DG7 2HU

On our holiday to Scotland we planned one meal out – and boy did we deserve it after the 2 hour walk we endured to get there! This place was simple pub food, but done really really well. The front of house team were so friendly, the experience was lovely!

I had deep fried brie to start (obviously!), followed by a special of smoked haddock, white wine sauce and a crispy poached egg, and the boyfriend and I shared the cheese board and sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

It was ALL kinds of heaven!

If you are ever, randomly in the area, be sure to stop by!

Let me know if any of these appeal to you!

Have a great month!

Love, A x
